Industry on the Win!

Lead Acid batteries can be conveniently deemed as a 20th century ecological success story. This is because the percentage of the battery lead recycled is higher than 97 percent. In comparison to 57% of beer cans, aluminium and soft drink containers, approximately 45% newspapers, 26% tyres and glass bottles, lead acid batteries has an incredibly low ecological footprint. What makes Lead Acid batteries such an attractive solution? The answer to this lies in its closed loop life cycle. About 60 – 80 % of recycled lead and plastic make up the new lead acid batteries.

The process is simple as follows :

  • Used battery is collected and, under strict environmental regulations, is sent to a Pollution Board’s licensed recycler
  • Here, the lead and plastic is reclaimed and that finds its way to a new battery manufacturer
  • Recycling is repeated

The Lead and Plastics in the LA batteries in vehicles like car, truck or a motorcycle have been and will continue to be recycled endlessly. Hence, this is extremely successful in terms of environmental and economical perspectives. The Lead Acid Battery Industry is entering a period of unprecedented expansion. Increased pressure from Government to reduce pollutant emissions, coupled with significant improvements in the performance – to – cost ratio of batteries is driving the growth.
